Siva Kumar, M.D., completed his medical degree at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute in Madras. He went on to complete a a residency in internal medicine and then a fellowship in cardiology, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He received the outstanding fellow teaching award as well as numerous other awards during medical school. He is board certified in multiple specialties, including cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, advanced heart failure, heart transplant and internal medicine. He has presented multiple abstracts at scientific sessions and has published a significant body of research in multiple publications including: Clinical Cardiology, Heart Failure Reviews, and the American Journal of Cardiovascular Drugs. During his medical training he actively participated in several long term research studies related to advanced heart failure, and ventricular assist devices. He is actively involved in a leadership role in the research studies at Tampa General Hospital. He is a member of numerous professional and scientific societies including the American Society of Transplantation, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Heart Failure Society of America. His clinical interests are in advanced heart failure, specifically takotsubo-cardiomyopathy, familial cardiomyopathy, and valvular cardiomyopathy and he treats high-risk cardiology patients.
