Syed Osman Ali MD

Dr. Ali received his medical degree from Aga Khan University in Pakistan. He completed his general surgery training at the University of Connecticut and his cardiothoracic surgery training at Loyola University, Chicago, IL. He then completed advanced thoracic oncology and minimally invasive thoracic surgery training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Ali also received advanced cardiac surgery and robotic training at the Cleveland Clinic. Prior to joining USF Health, Dr. Ali was a staff surgeon and assistant professor at both the University of North Dakota Medical School/Altru Health System and Loyola University-Chicago. While in Chicago, he served as the Chief of Cardiac Surgery at MacNeal Hospital, an affiliate of Loyola University Medical Center and as one of the lead lung transplant surgeons at Loyola University. Dr. Ali has extensive experience in cardiac surgery, robotic mitral valve surgery, lung transplantation, redo surgery, and general thoracic surgery.
