Jose G. Ruiz Morales MD

Dr. Jose Ruiz is a board-certified cardiologist, originally from Puerto Rico. After completing medical school in Puerto Rico, he moved to Florida, where he completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Florida-COM in Jacksonville, FL. During his Cardiology Fellowship he was appointed Chief Fellow. He then completed Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology training at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He is an expert in heart failure, cardiac transplantation, cardiac critical care, and mechanical circulatory support. He is skilled in performing left and right heart catheterization, coronary angiography, endomyocardial biopsies, and transesophageal echocardiograms. Dr. Ruiz is passionate about improving patient outcomes with the use of mechanical circulatory devices and the management of cardiogenic shock. His focused areas of treatment include rare diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac amyloidosis, cardiac sarcoidosis, and heart transplantation. He enjoys teaching new fellows and residents that rotate with the heart failure team. Dr. Ruiz is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching football, baseball, and basketball.
